Jill's InsectLogic Story

Anyone who has spent some time with me in the warmer months knows that I am obsessed with preventing bug bites. I'm especially concerned about the mosquitoes that get into our house at night and bite unsuspecting victims, like my son Max, while they are sleeping. Max has always been highly allergic to mosquito bites and it is a full-time job trying to protect him. We can never leave a door open and have to enter and exit quickly so no mosquitoes will fly into the house. Every window screen needs to be carefully inspected too, even when we travel. It can be pretty intense!

When he is bitten, Max's eyes will swell shut like a boxer's, sometimes for days. He has even been sent home from school on several occasions because of reactions to bites! Fortunately, he always makes a full recovery, but it is painful to watch and I always feel the typical mother’s guilt of wishing I could do more to keep him from such discomfort.

I created InsectLogic out of a need for a natural, non-toxic, and effective bug repellent that can be worn even while asleep. It needed to be DEET free, of course, with no nasty chemicals. I also wanted a product that did not dry skin and would sooth existing bites, as these critters seem to bite in the same place over and over again.

I also created this line to have a natural way to repel ticks and other bugs. Ticks have become a huge problem here in the Northeast and many of these ticks are known to be Lyme disease carriers. I contracted Lyme disease many years ago when I was in college when the illness was not common place. I know first hand how debilitating Lyme disease can be, especially if it goes undiagnosed for a long period of time, as it did in my case. InsectLogic Bug Repel Gel also helps provide protection for the entire family from ticks and other bugs during outdoor adventures. It can applied as often as needed.

InsectLogic is safe, gentle and made entirely from plant-based ingredients. We are launching the line with InsectLogic Bug Repel Gel. It can be applied directly to the skin, allowing for more thorough coverage than a spray. It is also easier to control application, which I love since kids can be quite ‘squirmy' when having bug spray applied.

We will be adding additional products to the InsectLogic line in the coming months, so please stay tuned for more!
