There's a lot of evidence that shows head lice attaining resistance to pesticides over the last 10 years. Many studies in the U.S. and abroad have documented this phenomenon and have proven that pesticide-laden treatments are often ineffective on lice due to pesticide resistance. This is why all LiceLogic products contain LiceZyme, our proprietary natural enzyme and do not contain pesticides.

Stay calm and try not to panic. You will need to treat a case of lice immediately so it does not continue to multiply and spread to other family members, caregivers, and friends.
5.) What type of lice treatment products do I need to treat head lice effectively and safely?
Get a non-toxic and safe lice treatment shampoo that contains natural enzymes. LiceLogic Clear & Free Shampoo is kid friendly and will kill lice and lice eggs, which are known as nits. LiceLogic Clear & Free head lice treatment shampoo is safe for daily use. You will also need a good nit comb like the LiceLogic Lice & Nit Eliminator Comb, which has stainless steel grooved teeth that will remove lice and lice eggs from the hair.
6.) If I have the shampoo why do I need to buy a Nit Comb? Can’t I just use a regular comb instead to remove lice and nits from the hair?
You will need a sturdy nit comb with stainless steel teeth that are close together to get rid of lice and nits. Lice do not simply wash out of the hair, even when they are dead, and the nits, which are glued onto the hair, need to be removed too by doing a thorough headlice comb out, even if the lice eggs are dead. A regular comb or brush will not work as you need to use a nit comb that is made for safe lice and nit removal like the LiceLogic Clear & Free Lice Eliminator comb.
7.) Should I check all family members for lice and how do I do a lice check for each person?
Yes, check all siblings and family members, and people that have been in close contact with the infested person, including caregivers. They all need to be screened for lice infestation. You can do this at home by sitting the subject under bright light and inspecting the scalp and hair closest to the scalp. Look for tiny “grains of sand” that can be any color, that are glued onto the hair shaft and do not move when blown on. Run your fingers down single strands of hair and if you feel the “grains of sand” do not move or come off easily, they are most likely nits, which are lice eggs waiting to hatch into baby lice. Lice eggs are always laid onto hair closest to the scalp since they need the heat of the scalp to incubate so pay attention to the hair closest to the scalp.
8.) How can I tell the difference between dandruff and nits?
Here are 2 easy tests: 1) If the debris moves when you blow on it, then it is dandruff and not nits. 2) If you are able to flick the debris away easily with your fingers then it is dandruff and not lice eggs.
9.) I have no idea how I am going to get rid of all of this lice. How long does it take to be lice and nit free?
All lice cases are different. Some people have a bad case of head lice, and others have a lighter headlice infestation. Regardless, they need to be treated the same. Follow the directions on the product you purchased, and call the company for more information if you need to. For many, a one-time lice treatment is successful, and for others, repeat lice treatment is needed. There can be a degree of human error which can easily occur when treating lice, so 2 – 3 consecutive treatments over the course of 3 days is beneficial and well advised to end the lice infestation completely. Also, another lice comb out 7 – 10 days later is advisable after that to check for lice reinfestation.
10.) Do I need to use a shampoo with a pesticide or pesticides to get rid of lice?
No. It is best not to use pesticides to kill lice and nits since pesticide based lice shampoos can be toxic. Also, lice have developed pesticide resistance commonly found in OTC lice treatments and many of the prescription based lice treatment products. So a natural enzyme lice shampoo is the best way to go to treat kids and the entire family.
11.) How many times do I need to use the lice shampoo and do a lice and nit comb out?
You will need to do it until you no longer pull out any lice and nits from the hair.
12.) How long can lice survive off of the head?
Headlice can live off of the scalp for no longer than 24 – 48 hours maximum.
13.) Is LiceLogic effective against super lice?
Yes. Lice cannot become immune to natural enzymes as their own bodies produce enzymes. LiceLogic kills super lice.
14.) How long does a lice and nit removal comb out take?
For long hair, it can take between 2-4 hours, depending on the thickness of hair and the severity of the lice infestation. For shorter hair it can take 1-2 hours. So take your time. There are no quick fixes when dealing with head lice.
